The Holy Vedas
-The Rig Veda: The book of Mantra- The Rig Veda is a collection of inspired songs or hymns.
-The Sama Veda: The book of Song- The Sama Veda is a collection of melodies or saman. The hymns in the Sama Veda which are presented as musical notes which were almost completely drawn from the Rig Veda and the texts are a reduced version of the Rig Veda. It is sometimes seen as that the Rig Verda is the word and the Sama Veda is the song or meaning. - The Yajur Veda: The book of Ritual- The Yajur Veda served as a guide for priests who perform sacrificial acts while simultaneously muttering the prose prayers. - The Atharva Veda: The book of Spell- The hymns within the Atharva Veda are more diverse and is simpler in language compared to the Rig Veda it also consists of spells and charms that was relevant at the time it was used. |
